Aboderin commends Ajimobi, announces 2019 ambition

Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi

The Senior Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Public Affairs , Deji Aboderin , says the governor has been able to prove that he did not seek a second term in government for selfish reasons.

Aboderin said this on Saturday in Ibadan while addressing the media on the achievement of the state government in the past two years . He also said his ambition to seek election into the House of Representatives was still alive.

Aboderin added , “I do not believe in praising or criticising a government that has not spent up to two years in power . Every government needs appreciable time to work before people can assess it. I have deliberately avoided making comments on the performance of Governor Ajimobi ’ s government in this second term . ”

“ To be fair to the government , it has achieved quite a lot to dispute the notion that second term governors don’ t always perform. We all knew that he did well in the first term and he consolidated on it with the number of roads that are either being constructed or rehabilitated in the state."

“ For any economy to develop , infrastructure and security must be put in good shape . Soon , the installation of Closed Circuit Television will begin in volatile areas of the state."

“ We are witnessing a huge improvement in the area of education in the state. Apart from the establishment of governing boards for schools in the state , six model schools are in their completion stages."

“ The establishment of a technical university, creation of the Education Trust Fund and reward for best pupils in final secondary school examination are some of the steps that the government has taken to improve the education sector . ”

Aboderin stated that the agreement between the state and Dangote for the production of rice in commercial quantity was a landmark achievement in the history of the state.

He noted that his ambition to contest a seat in the federal House in 2019 was born out of his ambition to empower his constituency.

He said , “ I had the ambition of contesting in the last election through the Accord Party but because the primary election was not held, some of us left and you could see the result."

“ I am not driven by personal ambition but by my determination to help my people who are suffering a lot and by the encouragement I have had from the governor . ”
