The Governor who condemned the recent violent protest at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo ,affirmed that recommendations made by the panels would be implemented without prejudice.

“Education, especially at the tertiary level, indubitably propels the economy of any given society. We are resolved unequivocally to reposition our tertiary institutions with a vision to produce globally competitive professionals who will, in long run, be agents and drivers of development in our society. You will recall that two days ago, the inherited problems and protracted issues that needed to be addressed eventually snowballed into avoidable and unacceptable violence in Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo. I want to assure the good people of Ondo State that these reports will be looked into critically and the cogent recommendations therein shall be swiftly attended to without prejudice or compromise,” Akeredolu said.

Akeredolu further reiterated that parents may have to prepare to pay more in the area of tuition of their wards in the institutions, adding that government alone cannot fund education.
Akeredolu said: ” Ladies and gentlemen, it is obvious that proper funding is an essential requirement for high quality education and the government only cannot effectively carry the burden of the cost of education. Without prejudice to whatever recommendations, the Visitation Panels might have made, parents and sponsors of our students may need to prepare to contribute more to the education of their children/wards in our tertiary institutions in due course.

Our passion is to reinvigorate the education system to make it vibrant, enviable and admirable globally.”
