NIMC Issues National Identity Number To 30m Nigerians

The Nigeria Identity Card Management Commission (NIMC) has issued National Identity Number (NIN) to no fewer than 30 million Nigerians.

The Lagos Regional Coordinator of NIMC, Mr Kayode Adegoke, gave the figure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Sunday.

Adegoke also said that the commission had spread its registration centres across the 20 LGAs and the 37 local council developmental areas of Lagos State to ensure that residents were captured.

“The Director General, Mr Aliyu Aziz, said that NIMC has issued NIN to about 30 million Nigerians while more than 100,000 printed cards are awaiting collection.

“Our mandate in this agency is to ensure that every Nigerian is issued a personal identification number as it is done in other countries of the world.

” For this reason, the agency has spread its registration centres across all the local governments of Lagos State to bring them nearer to residents,” he said.

Adegoke called on members of the public to enrol for NIN.
