AAUA DVC Receives Award of Excellence

An Award of Excellence has been conferred on the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, Professor Francis Gbore.

He was honoured last week by the Akungba Axis Association, a group comprising indigenes and wives of Akungba Community who are in the employ of AAUA.

The association attributed the award to the DVC’s sterling contributions to the development of Akoko Land.

The Award, which was also given to celebrate Gbore’s new elevation as Deputy Vice Chancellor, was described as the first to be so given by the association.

Responding, the honouree, who credited his newly-attained position to God’s Grace, enjoined the association to always support the University so that it can continue to flourish. He likened the University to a plant whose health depends largely on the measure of care it receives.

“I am where I am today not as a result of hardwork or intelligence but by the Grace of God who has ordained it to be. While I feel so humbled by this honour and grateful for it, I want to give ultimate thanks and glory to God Almighty by whose verdict I am here”, the DVC said.

“By the grace of God also, Adekunle Ajasin University is evolving. It has the potential required of it to become a leading University but we must all give it all the support it deserves. I enjoin you all, therefore, to always support the University in order to take it to higher heights”, he concluded.

The programme which was held at Benima Hotel, Akungba Akoko, was well attended by members of the Association, Community leaders and members and top officers of the University, including Dean of Students, Dr. Olusegun Owolewa, Director, University’s Institute of Part-Time Programmes, Dr. Bola Ogungbamila; Dr. Olusegun Olusola, Mr. Adefemi Oluyemi and Mr. Adewale Agede.
